Michel Saloff-Coste will be in the U.S. on an extended visit from France, from October through early January 2013. He is presently scheduling meetings, presentations and workshops with key potential partners in his project, Design Me a Planet. This, in brief, is a project to generate financial resources and expert research into the creation of positive scenarios for the continued existence of humankind on the planet, given the multiple indisputable challenges that humankind faces in the near, mid and long-term. These include population explosion and catastrophic climate change, and the consequences of these and other factors of enormous scale and import. A second phase will be to engage participants at the local/regional levels to generate solutions to implement such scenarios, with the support of ongoing systemic coordination and information exchange. Mr. Saloff-Coste has launched this project in Europe and has a number of partners worldwide.
Mr. Saloff-Coste is planning meetings during his visit, which will now include meeting with Arizona State University President Michael Crow and the faculty of the Global Institute of Sustainability at ASU, in October.
