Networkvisio sera présent à Cannes lors du Festival de Cannes 2009 : Remise des Prix « Conscience Planétaire » et « Ethique Planétaire »

Diplômé es-lettres et sciences humaines à la Sorbonne, il a reçu le titre de docteur honoris causa de la part d'Universités américaines, canadiennes, finlandaises et hongroises. Il est professeur de philosophie de science et de science des systèmes dans plusieurs chaires parmi les universités américaines et européennes et tient des conférences dans le monde entier. En 2002, Laszlo reçoit le Prix pour la Paix du Japon, le Goi Award, et en 2005, le prix international Mandir pour la Paix à Assisi. Il fut candidat au prix Nobel de Paix en 2004 et en 2005. Formerly Professor of Philosophy, Systems Science, and Futures Studies in various universities in the US, Europe, and the Far East, he lectures worldwide. Laszlo received the Peace Prize of Japan, the Goi Award, in 2002, the International Mandir of Peace Prize in Assisi in 2005, and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2004. He is the author or co-author of fifty-four books translated into as many as twenty-three languages, and serves as editor of another thirty volumes in addition to a four-volume World Encyclopedia of Peace. He lives in a converted four-hundred year-old farmhouse in Tuscany.   Présentation des prix remis :   THE PLANETARY CONSCIOUSNESS AND PLANETARY ETHICS PRIZES   The Planetary Consciousness and Planetary Ethics Prizes are awarded in view of the urgent necessity to update and upgrade the thinking and acting—the consciousness and the ethics—of a critical mass of people in today's societies. The considerations that lead to this conclusion are simple and basic:   At the beginning of the 21st century we live in an epoch of transition; wit-nessing the deepest and fastest transformation in the history of humanity. This transformation is not without problems and difficulties, the birthpangs of the coming post-modern age. Terrorism is rampant, armed retaliation is presently under way, and at the same time hundreds of millions of people are without work; a thousand million or more are exploited by poor wages; and three thousand million are forced into growing poverty. The population of the world is growing, and the number of jobs is diminishing. The gap between rich and poor economies and between rich and poor people within nations is increasing. The problems of the environment, the same as those of society, face all people. Yet the governments of the world still spend a thousand billion dollars a year on arms and the military and only a tiny fraction of this sum on socially conscious development and a livable environment.    The problem of terrorism, the environmental problem, the employment problem, the developmental problem, the population problem, and the many problems of energies and resources will not be overcome by "sending in the marines," reducing the number of already useless nuclear warheads, or signing politically expedient treaties on world trade, dangerous technologies, global warming, and biological diversity. More is required today than short-term problem-solving with or without armed intervention. As Einstein remarked, we cannot solve a problem with the same kind of thinking that gave rise to that problem. The problems we face are due to ways of thinking and acting that lag behind the needs of the times. The critical factor in coping with today's problems is the consciousness and the ethics of a critical mass of today's people.    Many individuals are already evolving their consciousness and their ethics to the urgently required planetary dimension and many more would do so if they were made aware of the need and given the opportunity. The Club of Budapest is dedicated to the proposition that promoting and facilitating the evolution of planetary consciousness and planetary ethics is a vital aspect of humanity's progress toward a more sustainable and peaceful world. The awarding of the Planetary Consciousness Prizes highlights this essential mission of our time.
