Terre :
« Les innovations : promesses pour un développement
durable ? »
Vendredi
28 mars 2014Amphithéâtre Boutmy – Sciences Po – 27, rue
Saint-Guillaume
(Paris VIIe) de 14h45 à
16h45

- Home » Donella Meadows Legacy » Envisioning a Sustainable World
In addition to being a brilliant scientist, Donella Meadows was a truly gifted communicator. Her talks and writing displayed a consistent optimism and a unique ability to reach and inspire people. Her talk below, "Envisioning a Sustainable World," is a moving example of these qualities and an important reminder of the vital role that vision plays in science and social progress. Presented in 1994 at the Third Biennial Meeting of the International Society for Ecological Economics, "Envisioning a Sustainable World" remains an important message for anyone striving for change.

Fwd: Kosmos Announces New Collaborative Project
Kosmos NewsletterCreating the New Civilization for the Common GoodFebruary 6, 2014

Buy current issue hereDear Friends,
Kosmos is very grateful for a funded opportunity to embark on a learning journey. We have received a generous grant from the Fenwick Foundation to discuss the possibility of connecting for greater impact, discovering common themes, shared values and emergent ideas for coordinated action in the transformative movement many call the Shift, orNew Story and Kosmos has called Co-Creating the New Civilization.
Hand-in-hand with our sense of a world in crisis, there is a growing sense, across many fields of endeavor, that we are crossing the threshold into a 'new story'—a story no longer based on greed, competition and scarcity, but one informed by fresh expressions of cooperation, indigenous wisdom, community-building, sharing and innovation at all scales from local to global. In many places, our worn-out story of separation and fear is giving way to a new one of intimate connection with one another, celebrating our diverse cultures, and caring for all life on the planet.
That young people, under the age of 40, are leading the way through action is perhaps the most hopeful sign of all. The spirit of intentional service on behalf of the common good is being demonstrated in new ways in countless places: Warriors without Weapons (Brazil); Kafunda (Zimbabwe); EcoMe (Israel); MetaLab (Austria); Shikshantar (India) are just a few examples. Transition Towns, Permaculture, Global Commons, and Global Citizenship are further examples of movements that are strengthening community resilience and restoring the earth as well as expanding our responsibility on a global scale.
Kosmos is interested in exploring ideas about the evolutionary impulse underlying these transformative ideas, especially as this relates to personal and social identity. What are the uniting beliefs of people doing similar work? Where are the richest and most inclusive conversations taking place? Is deeper collective action the next step? What kinds of collaborative opportunities are possible?
In the next few months, we will reach out to hundreds of thinkers, doers, artists, makers, teachers, global leaders and community-builders who self-identify with the Shift, to explore these ideas and to 'map the watershed' of their journeys of mind, spirit and action to advance a healthier planet and increase the well-being of all.
As subscribers to the Kosmos Newsletter you will be the first to know about the progress of our learning journey and how you can participate.
Warmly,
Nancy A SHORT INTRODUCTIONTHINK LIKE A COMMONER: A SHORT INTRODUCTION TO THE LIFE OF THE COMMONS
By David Bollier
Many of us have yearned to find an introduction to the commons that we understand and that shows us why the Commons movement is so important in a market-state environment where voices of the people are not heard—in a time where the natural resources of the world are being enclosed by corporations for the benefit of the few rather than the many.
David Bollier has done it! If you want to rebuild our society and reclaim your inheritance this book is for you. Highly recommended.
